Top 5 ways to Buy a Wii!

October 18th, 2007

If you want to buy a Nintendo Wii for the holidays your going to have to look long and hard. With only a few weeks left till Christmas you have to start your Wii search now! We’ve done some research and come up with a Top 5 list of ways to get a Wii. We’ve kept our list legal so NO you can’t steal your neighbors, and we’ve also tried to think outside the box.

So here are your Top 5 ways to buy a Wii:

5) Stores

Ok so this one is actually a long shot but still needs to be mentioned. You need to visit or call all the stores in the area and you need to do so ASAP. This includes Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City, K-mart, Toys R Us, Game Stop, Target and the list goes on. Ask to speak to someone in the department, maybe even a dept. manager. Find out when their Wii consoles arrive. Usually certain products are delivered on the same days, but they may not always arrive weekly so you really need to get a move on.
On the day they are delivered try to be one of the first ones at the store. I’m not recommending showing up at midnight, not yet anyway. Ask the sales person what its like the morning the store opens with Wii’s in stock. Are people waiting all night? How long do they wait for? You should also find out if they take reservations, although we have found that many stores no longer take reservations for the Wii game system.

4) Current Wii Owners

A recent news article stated that 67% of Japanese Wii Owners are not actively using their Wii. You may know a Wii Owner who just doesn’t use their Wii Console, ask them if you can buy it from them. No sense in having a good Wii laying around unused. You can also Advertise in the local paper, Craig’s List,Penny Saver or any other classified media. Using the same reasoning from above, there may be Wii owners who might be willing to part with their Wii. Sure its not brand new, but as long as its a working Wii it might be worth the time, cost and effort.

3) Use a vendors product alert email system

Be aware that some vendors like GameStop and Walmart have product alert emails that can let you know when the Wii is available. You might even check out sites such as WiiLocator and Buy-Wii-Online who search various vendors and report back the availability of the Wii.

2) Comparison Shopping Sites

These sites offer you comparison shopping and list many different vendors. In case your wondering what I mean visit PriceGrabber.com, PriceScan.com or even Froogle.com to name a few. Visit these sites and do a search for Wii Console and pay attention to all the various vendors. Many of them will be sold out but keep trying, there is still time.

1)Auction Sites
Your best bet if you really want a Wii are the Auction Sites. Your bound to find someone who will sell you a Wii. Nintendo has already stated that there will be a shortage. The longer you wait the higher the price on these auction sites can go. Check out eBay, Amazon.com or any other auction site. Keep in mind that you might pay a lot more for these on auction sites then they normally go for. You might be able to find better deals on Amazon over eBay but you’ll need to look at both.

Finally one piece of Wii advice. If you have patience, persistence and start your search early, hopefully you’ll be able to have your Wii for the holidays.
