Recently Nintendo regarded their holiday sales so far as being "fantastic"; But a report from Japan has Sony’s PS3 outselling the Wii for the first time in November.  Sony has been trying to become more competitive and a few weeks ago lowered its prices on the PS3 unit.  Nintendo on the other hand is having trouble producing enough Wii’s to meet demand which could also account for why the PS3’s outsold the Wii.  It could simply be a matter of the supply being plentiful for the PS3 and consumers are choosing it over the Wii.  It will be interesting to see if Sony can continue this trend.

Addition, response to some comments:  Worlwide sales have great for Nintendo’s Wii, but Japan sales are important because they show a trend of what may happen worldwide.

Its not everyday that you hear about Nintendo being disappointed, I mean what can they possibly be upset about?  In a recent press release a high ranking Nintendo exec said that they were "disappointed"…  Thats right sales are going so well, "Fantastic" in fact,  that Nintendo is disappointed (more…)
